Resumo:
Communication technologies are fundamental in Internet of Things (IoT) systems. They generally include short-range and long-range classes and both classes can include wired and wireless technologies. Low-power, long-range wireless networks are increasingly common and play a key role in IoT systems that can operate autonomously over long periods of time and be deployed in large and remote areas. The main features of LoRa communication technology and of the LoRaWAN communication protocol will be presented from the perspective of a system integrator, with focus on their suitability for IoT systems dedicated to environmental monitoring.
João Miguel Santos Bio:
João Miguel Santos received a degree in physics from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, in 1995. He worked in High Energy Physics instrumentation from 1995 to 2009, in the CERN/ATLAS/LHC Collaboration. Since 1998 he has been involved in teaching (Physics and Electronics) at the Polytechnic Institute of Beja. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. with the Electronic Systems, Signal Processing and Instrumentation Laboratory at Polytechnic Institute of Beja, and the Physics Department, at NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon, Portugal. His current research interests include instrumentation, IoT systems for environmental monitoring and High Performance Computing.
