Título: Mental Disorders Diagnosis From fMRI Data Using Deep Learning
Resumo: A mental disorder is defined as a significant disturbance in thinking, emotional regulation, or behaviour. Several types of mental disorders can produce many symptoms that can be easily mistaken for other diseases’ symptoms, hampering the diagnosis. Structural brain scan techniques, like magnetic resonance (MR), can provide valuable information about the brain structure and they have proven to be pivotal in detecting organic brain diseases (eg. tumours). On the other hand, functional brain scan techniques, like functional MR, provide information about brain activity while resting or performing a task. Functional MR imaging can show differences in the brains of people with and without a mental disorder that a structural scan does not detect. This seminar will explore the underlying concepts of functional MR and give an overview of recent research works that apply deep learning models to fMRI to diagnose mental disorders.
