This seminar presents an innovative approach of measuring post-activation potentiation (PAP) in skeletal muscle using Tensiomyography (TMG) and analyzing its full-time extension through one-dimensional Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM). Rather than relying on isolated twitch parameters, this method yields a unified and interpretable index, the Total Potentiation Level (TPL), which quantifies both the magnitude and duration of PAP. The TPL offers practitioners a powerful “potentiation score” to guide performance monitoring and training decisions.
Key physiological concepts will be clarified, including distinctions between post-activation potentiation (PAP), twitch potentiation (TP), and post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE). The workshop introduces the Potentiation Training Strategy (PTS), a novel model that shifts the focus from fatigue thresholds to sustained high potentiation zones, with potential benefits including enhanced motor unit recruitment, improved motor learning, reduced injury risk, and more informed post injury training assessments.
The seminar methodology includes:
a) Recording pre- and post-exercise TMG twitches.
b) Applying SPM 1-D paired t-tests across the full twitch waveform.
c) Extracting and integrating supra-threshold regions to compute TPL.
d) Using TPL trends to refine training loads, detect fatigue, or flag neuromuscular inhibition.
Speaker Biography
Srđan Đorđević is a distinguished inventor, scientist, and elite athletic coach, celebrated for coaching over 60 Olympic athletes across a 30‑year career. As co‑owner and Head of R&D at TMG‑BMC, he champions the development and global implementation of Tensiomyography (TMG), a non‑invasive muscle assessment technology. Đorđević is the lead inventor of the muscle‑contraction (MC) sensor, a piezo‑resistive device patented in over 20 countries that directly measures muscle tension during contractions. Validated in published research, the MC sensor shows strong linear correlation with isometric force and EMG signals, offering selective, real‑time biomechanical insights.
His scientific contributions include more than 50 peer‑reviewed publications spanning sports science, muscle biomechanics, and collision physiology. Đorđević has partnered with elite teams and federations such as FC Barcelona, Bayern München, the Italian national football team, Jamaican athletics, the US Olympic Committee, and UK Sport. Under his guidance, TMG has advanced from a rehabilitative diagnostic tool to a performance‑optimization system used by elite sporting organizations.
His work integrates evidence‑based innovation with hands‑on coaching to enhance explosive strength, injury mitigation, and athlete monitoring.
