Current Focus
Design and development of instruments, processes, and equipment operating at low pressures (vacuum) — including vacuum gauges, gas and surface analyzers, and equipment for contaminant extraction and removal.

Main Areas

  • Vacuum Metrology & Instrumentation — development of next-generation vacuum gauges (Ion trap, induced-charge detection), and provision of calibration and testing services (METROVAC).
  • Gas Analysis & Leak Detection — in the context of Europe’s energy transition, development of instrumentation and protocols for CO₂, H₂, and other gases, including testing and validation methodologies for environmental emissions control.
  • Vacuum Processes for Decontamination — extraction of volatile contaminants (e.g., TCA in cork) by thermal desorption under vacuum, with transfer to industrial application.

  • Surface Science & Characterization — use of mass spectrometry and electron spectroscopies to characterize materials and interfaces.
  • Electronics for Charge and Particle Detection — development of charge-sensitive amplifiers, data acquisition, and signal processing for scientific instrumentation.
