Our primary form of communication uses sound: we speak, we hear, we say, we listen, we whisper, we shout, we sing, we turn a deaf ear, or we are all ears.
We can close our eyes, but hearing is always there – even when we are sleeping, or we wouldn't hear the alarm clock…
We hear – and produce – all kinds of sounds: sometimes simple speech, sometimes pleasant music, even unpleasant noises.
To produce sound, to communicate with sound.
A noisy silence. A horn, a chirp.
To see with sound? An ultrasound.
To feel sound? Music to my ears.
